Camera Shots Quiz
A few days ago I created a project with my partner Gustavo Zorrilla called the camera shots quiz.
Our task was to create a story with one or two inanimate objects and apply the camera shots that we had learned in class. Finally, we had to put this all in a presentation with short descriptions of each scene.
We were required to do the following shots:
- An establishing shot
- A Long shot
- Two medium shots
- Two close-ups
- An Extreme close-up
- A Point of view shot
- Any type of shot using a high angle
- Any type of shot using a low angle
- Any type of shot with your subject on either the left or right third
Development Process
My partner and I first started with brainstorming our ideas for the story of our project. My partner Gustavo had two toy cars- one yellow and one red- and we cam up with the simple idea of having the two toy cars race. We wanted to make a traditional race but make it look epic and give it it's own twist: a portal. My partner and I were allowed to shoot some scenes outside, so we came up with the idea of transporting them from inside to outside.
Then, we started to shoot scenes outside of the building. Specifically, we shot on the courtyard are of our school. Afterwards, we proceeded to shoot inside. So we technically shot the story in reverse.
Reflection
I believe we did a really good job with the limited amount of time that we had. I think that both our slideshow and our shots look amazing and are very well presented. I am especially proud of the way we executed the shots and made them look as epic as we expected them to be. Additionally, the portal shots were our most creative part and it I think both our visions came to life with these. However, I believe that if we had more time to brainstorm we could have put a more meaningful story behind it. Although our project came out the way we wanted, I would have loved to add more story to it and make some clever storytelling overall.
