Ladies and Gentlemen, the moment we have al been waiting for...
The Behind the Scenes of our film opening Agent Vienna!!!
This Tuesday my teammates and I had the chance to film most of our 2 minute film opening called Agent Vienna.
Now I will update you on a few things that have changed about our mise-en-scene.
First is location
At first me and my teammates Bella and Gus wanted to film at a diner. However, the two locations that we had in mind were not cooperating to us and we never heard back from them. So we came up with Plan C. Our initial plan was to film the chase scene at the Weston Town Center. There are many great restaurants there so we made a few calls. La Birria Bar, an award winning burger joint, was kind enough to allow us to film in their restaurant. It still matched our vibe of an action movie with their super cool neon sign and their modern interior design. We really enjoyed filming there and we also got to enjoy some awesome food after our long evening of production.
The other thing that changed was costume, but just slightly. Our actors used what they had available to them and it still stuck to the theme as well. Our henchman Rigo and our evil boss Binzy (we finally changed the name), played by the super talented Gabe Rivas both had the more modernized version of the concept that we had in mind.
Both actors had never had any acting experience before and they struggled a bit at first. However, they did a fabulous job and we could tell that they were having a lot of fun.
At first our idea was to have Agent Vienna wear more darker colors like red and black. A leather jacket and a long sleeve burgundy top. But... Bella didn't own any of those and I couldn't get some of my clothes to her. Either way, she came up with an outfit that still matched Agent Vienna's persona. I believe that Bella and Agent Vienna both have lots of similarities, thus the reason she is playing this wonderful, badass character.
Now, let's talk props!
The briefcases for both Vienna and Binzy were acquired successfully. Bella brought in her vintage blue briefcase, while Gus brought in his briefcase where he carries his camera. Bella had these super cool glasses that really match Agent Vienna's vibe. We do not have an earpiece but we came up with the idea that the glasses would be where Vienna listens to Jolly and her commands.
My favorite part about our production process was filming the chase scene with Bella and Gabe.
It was super fun seeing them run around and have fun. I also enjoyed the part where the car passes in front of Bella. Unfortunately, I did not catch this part of the production process since I was on call with Rigo, who was driving the car, in order to give him the cue on when to pass. This scene was very calculated and we put lots of effort in it in order to execute the perfect shot.
The last scene we are missing are the last few second with Jolly and Agent Vienna in the car. This we will film next week as my teammates are in a very important field trip.
Overall, I had a lot of fun capturing these moments and being able to produce the film opening.
This was a really fun day and I hope to continue to do productions like this in the future.
